What is a notary?
A notary public is a neutral, state-commissioned official who checks a signer’s identity and, depending on the notarization, witnesses a signature or administers an oath. Then, the notary completes the required certificate and seal to deter fraud.
A notary confirms the signing process but cannot provide legal advice unless separately licensed as an attorney.

How quickly can Liz arrive?
Liz can often meet clients in about 30 minutes, depending on the appointment location, current availability and travel time. Call, text or email to confirm the earliest realistic time.
What should I have ready?
Have the complete document with its notarial certificate and a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID available, such as a driver’s license or passport. If the document does not include a notarial certificate, ask the document’s preparer or recipient which certificate is required before your appointment; Liz cannot choose one for you. Do not sign until the notary tells you it is appropriate to do so.
Can you help me choose or complete a document?
Liz can explain the notarization process, but she is not an attorney and cannot select documents, draft language or provide legal advice.
Is online notarization just a Zoom call?
No. Eligible remote online notarizations use a compliant platform with identity verification and required recordkeeping. Liz must be physically in Texas, while the signer may be elsewhere subject to Texas requirements. Liz will confirm whether the document and transaction are eligible.
